Closed with 4-0 webcryl sutures - closed muscle with simple continuous pattern, closed skin with simple interrupted sutures and closed cranial wound with horizonal mattress and simple interrupted sutures. Cranial wound did not close as well, as rest of wound due to less loose skin in area, covered sutures with TAO, telfa/tegaderm. Drew blood from the R medial metatarsal vein. Wound would benefit from sutures/staples. Feather condition: WNL Ectoparasites: None noted Radiographic findings: Right ulna fracture, comminuted. Radius intact Initial treatment: 0.22cc Torb IM, 0.18cc Simbadol IM, 0.36cc Meloxicam PO, 1.6cc Calcium Slurry PO, 0.22cc Baytril PO, 60cc LRS in left inguinal area A: Adult great horned owl likely hit by car. Right ulna fracture will likely heal with conservative management in a wrap. Unsure if a surgical repair would be indicated but vet will review. Uropygial gland wound into the muscle layer and was matted with feathers and old scab, would benefit from quick debridement and closure. P: Rx fluids, tramadol, meloxicam, baytril, calcium slurry. Collect blood and fecal. Repeat rads in 1 week. Have AD look at wound tomorrow with possible closure.
